Overview
The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois (NKFI) operates the KidneyMobile® (KM) to conduct community-based health screenings, provide disease education, and facilitate follow-up care for diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease throughout Illinois.
The KidneyMobile Driver is responsible for the safe operation of the KidneyMobile vehicle and for supporting the logistical needs of community screening events. This role includes planning and coordinating parking at screening sites, ensuring all necessary inventory and equipment are organized and stocked on the KM, and assisting NKFI staff with non-medical aspects of screenings.
The Driver must be available to transport the KidneyMobile to and from screening locations and is responsible for loading and unloading all supplies and equipment before and after each event. While screenings are in progress, the Driver is expected to remain on site and assist with screening-related support.
Additional responsibilities include routine refueling of the KidneyMobile, maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle (both interior and exterior), and transporting the KidneyMobile between its downtown Chicago parking location and all scheduled screening sites.
This is a part-time, hourly contract position. The scheduled driving hours typically fall in the months of March-November (with some exceptions). Maintenance and other duties may be assigned during or outside of this time frame. Driver must have schedule flexibility. Contract is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
The KidneyMobile Driver must:
- Have a valid Illinois drivers license
- Be eligible for coverage by NKFI’s vehicle insurance plan.
- Possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work well independently and as a part of a team.
- Have the ability to safely lift 20-75 lbs with the assistance of a handcart
- Have access to a reliable cellular phone and transportation to and from KM parking location.
- Be willing to travel to any and all job sites, including weekend and overnight travel throughout Illinois.
The KidneyMobile Driver will report directly to the Senior KidneyMobile Manager.
