To add to our esteemed faculty, Pace University’s College of Health Professions is seeking a Faculty member to join the Undergraduate Program in Health Science. This position will be appointed at either Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. This position may be based at either the New York City Campus or Westchester Campus located in Pleasantville NY. Most courses are taught in-person on our campus in Pleasantville or New York City, and some are taught virtually or online.

Position Overview:

We are interested in candidates who can teach courses in a health science degree program in areas such as: health promotion, health communication, social and behavioral determinants of health, whole person health, healthcare for diverse populations, and global health.

About the Department of Health Science: The growing Department of Health Science, situated at the New York City (downtown) and Pleasantville campuses, is currently comprised of eight full-time primary faculty members. The Department’s faculty address pressing public health and global health issues and are recognized both nationally and internationally for their important contributions to scholarship, education, policy, and practice. The Department’s flagship program, the Bachelor of Science in Health Science, educates 300 Health Science students. Our MSc in Health Informatics accepted its first cohort in Fall 2023. Our Master’s in Public Health Program will accept its first cohort in Fall 2024. The Department is housed within the College of Health Professions, with faculty members appointed within undergraduate and graduate programs in Nursing, Physician Assistant Studies, Occupational Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Nutrition and Dietetics as well as the MPH and MSHI degree programs.

About the position: The current position offers exceptional opportunities for academic and professional collaboration. The College and University are continually expanding the support for faculty scholarship through internal research funding, teaching release, and integration of scholarship into teaching practice. New initiatives for interdisciplinary research support across the University is a priority.

Position Duties:

  • Teaching and developing health science courses as appropriate to one’s field of expertise and others as required by the Chair
  • Collaborating with faculty within the program to ensure a quality program and outcomes
  • Collaborating with faculty beyond the program to contribute to our School and University interdisciplinary initiatives
  • Actively participating in a variety of service opportunities including accreditation activities and other program, departmental, college, and university committees
  • Developing relationships with community-based organizations and public health agencies to build fieldwork placement experiences for undergraduate health science students as well as develop collaborative community-based research initiatives
  • Advising and mentoring health science students
  • Maintaining an active research program, publishing research papers and seeking external research funding

The ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • Candidates must possess a PhD, DrPH, or equivalent doctoral degree in a health science-aligned discipline
  • One to three years undergraduate level teaching experience in multiple modalities, including interdisciplinary curriculum
  • Candidates whose scholarship and lived experience advances the university’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Strong record of scholarly achievement and a track record of (or potential for) securing extramural funding, depending on the rank applied for
  • Academic rank and salary is commensurate with educational preparation and experience.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students and working with a diverse student population
  • Demonstrated experience teaching via multiple modalities including in-person, remote and online. Strong cultural competence and communication skills
  • We seek candidates who will help support the program’s mission of interdisciplinary collaboration; and further develop program faculty strengths in health equity, advocacy and management
  • We are especially interested in candidates with experience and a commitment to fostering an environment of inclusion and collegiality among a culturally diverse university community
