Sacred Heart University invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean, College of Health Professions.

The College of Health Professions (CHP) offers undergraduate and/or graduate programs in the following disciplines: Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Health Sciences, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Public Health, Speech-Language Pathology & Communication Disorders, Healthcare Informatics & Administration, and Radiography. CHP students receive training in the Center for Healthcare Education, a state-of-the-art facility that includes clinical skills laboratories, a driving simulator and a home health suite. Sacred Heart University, the second-largest independent Catholic university in New England and one of the fastest-growing private doctoral institutions in the United States, is deeply rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition and the liberal arts to respond to the needs of a changing world while remaining true to its living tradition.

This is an opportunity for an innovative leader within the health professions to play a pivotal role in leading the CHP’s continued growth in research and educating students for challenging and meaningful health care careers. Reporting to the Provost and serving as a member of SHU’s senior leadership team, the Dean will articulate a vision and corresponding plan that will result in the College being recognized nationally as a leader in health professional education and in the preparation of superior health care professionals.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in an area consistent with the academic makeup of CHP and a record of professional accomplishment that merits appointment at the rank of tenured full professor at the University. Candidates must demonstrate proven experience in entrepreneurial and innovative leadership and the ability to inspire faculty and staff to work together to build outstanding academic programs with the capacity for growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong change management skills with the ability to effectively partner with a broad range of constituents internally and externally. The successful candidate will be a persuasive communicator with strong and highly effective interpersonal skills.
