Overview
The Senior Director, Government Strategic Accounts is responsible for leading a team of professionals supporting the STChealth public sector current and future client base. Working closely with the Client Delivery team, this individual leads the development and execution of account strategies for STChealth Public Sector clients. They are responsible for achieving and maintaining customer satisfaction, retention, and growth goals across the portfolio; ensuring the development of strategic relationships within the client organization and stakeholder environment; identification of new opportunities and programs at both the account and market levels; management of a mature, predictable, and robust opportunity pipeline; supporting new logo acquisition; and ensuring contract compliance.
Specific Responsibilities
• Business Unit Management: Lead a team of 4-5 Account Executives responsible for supporting and managing the STChealth Public Sector client base. Manage all aspects of this work, including strategic planning, execution, and goal attainment.
• Strategic Planning: Oversee the development and execution of strategic account plans for each client that ensure client satisfaction, value realization, opportunity identification and development, relationship building, and ultimately retention and growth.
• Relationship Development: Support Account Executives in the building of strategic relationships and “trusted advisor” status within leadership of client agencies and also within adjacent agencies, Governor’s offices, legislatures, etc. as appropriate and necessary. Support the development of relationships and presence within the stakeholder landscape such as Immunization Coalitions and healthcare-related organizations nationally and within defined regions. Establish strategic personal relationships complementary to those held by Account Executives.
• Goal Attainment: Ensure that customer satisfaction, retention, and growth goals are met by the team. Promote delivery of exceptional customer service; pro-actively develop and execute client retention strategies; identify, pursue, and close growth opportunities; and develop an appropriately balanced “voice of the customer” advocacy culture within the team.
• Growth: Support and lead the identification, pursuit, and closure of growth opportunities leveraging both existing upsell capabilities and services and new offerings. Foster an environment of innovation and opportunity creation within the Account Executive team. Lend support as appropriate to new logo pursuit and capture.
• Internal Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams including Client Delivery, Solutions, Marketing and Product to ensure strategic and operational alignment.
• Market Knowledge: Understand Public Health and broader healthcare market events and drivers; work closely with internal teams to leverage up to date knowledge of funding, regulatory, and competitive landscape to identify potential opportunities, threats, and risks; ensure Account Executives are appropriately informed and can incorporate into account strategy.
Skills
• Proven track record of success in a similar role, specifically in the state government health and human services market.
• Ability to develop robust strategic plans incorporating the various drivers and dynamics specific to state and federal governments and to demonstrate successful execution of those plans with examples of goal attainment.
• Highly organized with strong management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence senior-level stakeholders.
• Collaborative team player with a customer-centric approach.
• Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Experience
• 10+ years of account management or adjacent but directly applicable experience.
• 5+ years working directly with state agencies in a customer-facing role within HHS and/or Public Health. Federal experience in lieu of state experience will be considered but is not preferred.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred
Education
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, preferably with a healthcare, government, or marketing-related focus.
