ABOUT THE POSITION
The Stanislaus County Health Services Agency is currently looking to fill a Contract Employee as a Lactation Consultant. The Lactation Consultant will serve as a subject matter expert to provide high-risk breastfeeding support to participants in the Womens, Infants, and Children (WIC) department.
TYPICAL TASKS
- Act as the subject matter expert for lactation support;
- Conduct consultations with normal or complex lactation issues;
- Provide phone, video, or in-person lactation consultations;
- Train and mentor breastfeeding support staff and WIC staff;
- Assist with staff training;
- Document consultation appointments in WIC in the appropriate data management systems; and
- Utilize Participant Centered Education (PCE) techniques to promote positive behavior change.
REQUIREMENTS
- This position requires the current certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in good standing with the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners; AND
- Must have a valid California Driver’s License.
Proof of IBCLC certification is required for verification purposes prior to interviewing.
