Overview

Texan by Nature, a conservation nonprofit that advances conservation across Texas, is seeking a dedicated intern with an instinct for and interest in research, writing, and program/project management to join our team supporting the Nature and Health Alliance. The Nature and Health Alliance is a nationwide network of researchers, practitioners, and advocates committed to exploring and promoting the crucial connections between nature and health. This internship offers a unique chance to contribute to projects at the intersection of nature and health under the guidance of seasoned professionals passionate about creating sustainable change.

Ideal candidates are driven, creative, trustworthy, hard-working, and should have a keen interest in the nexus of nature and health. This internship program will equip you with the skills necessary to prosper in this industry along with excellent referrals to a wide variety of brands and agencies.

Location: The internship is primarily virtual, with rare, optional in-person days at the Texan by Nature Office located at 6805 N. Capital of Texas Hwy., Ste. 268, Austin, TX 78731 or affiliated sites.

Term: • Start date is the week of November 15th, 2024; the internship will run until May 1st , 2025, with flexible start and end dates. • A commitment of at least 15 hours per week is required, with the potential to increase to 25 hours based on project needs.

Responsibilities: Interns will be deeply involved in the Nature and Health Alliance efforts and have various responsibilities supporting program management, fundraising/development, or social media/marketing. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to a mix of the following:

General Responsibilities:

• Research publications in nature and health fields, policy efforts, and other subjects as directed • Work in and contribute to an environment that encourages curiosity, diversity, and innovation • Perform day-to-day office administrative tasks, check email, take meeting notes, member management, etc. • Provide weekly to bi-weekly updates to your direct manager

Programmatic Responsibilities:

• Assist the Program Manager with research, deliverable creation, and implementation of the committee and program efforts • Create and send outreach communications with direction from the Program Manager • Attend virtual committee meetings and record meeting notes • Assist with conducting member outreach and processing membership applications • Research donors and partners • Support the implementation of strategic partnerships and funding opportunities. • Assist with planning and administration of upcoming Nature and Health Conference in April 2025 Social Media/Marketing Responsibilities: • Support the Program Manager with social media copywriting and scheduling • Collect and report digital analytics • Implement website copy updates as requested • Update member pages and database as requested • Draft blogs and other publicly facing materials as requested with guidance from the Marketing Team and Program Manager

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate or graduate student majoring in, or with a strong interest in public health, conservation, natural resources, sustainability, nonprofit management, or related field • Strong writing, communication, and multitasking skills • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite • Must represent the office in a professional manner both virtually and in person

Compensation:

Interns will be compensated at a rate of $15 per hour.
