The Informatics Branch (IB) is part of the Division of Communicable Disease Control, within the Center for Infectious Diseases (CID), of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).

The CDPH is dedicated to protecting and optimizing the health and well-being of California’s diverse people and communities. The mission of CID’s IB is to promote the prevention and control of infectious disease by developing meaningful, reliable, and secure public health data products and pipelines. In collaboration with local health jurisdictions and other community partners, IB supports equitable infectious disease intervention, prevention, and control efforts by providing statewide leadership in infectious disease informatics by supporting stakeholders in accessing, transforming, processing, analytics, and reporting for the state of California’s reportable infectious diseases.

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by serving a critical role in technical data project coordination as part of the CDPH Center for Infectious Disease (CID) Informatics Branch (IB).

Under the direction of the IB Chief the Health Program Specialist II (HPS II) acts as the lead Data Coordinator and conducts project management on a variety of technical informatics projects, supporting the Integrated Infectious Disease Data Warehouse (I2D2) change request process. The HPS II will be responsible for managing data access and data governance via the execution and maintenance of data use agreements (DUA) with internal/external partners. This position will perform a wide range of independent tasks, including but not limited to identifying program requirements, evaluation of existing processes, and recommend improvements to improve and enhance the collection and accessibility of infectious disease data that are necessary for CDPH programs to conduct public health surveillance and fulfill reporting needs.
