Job Description and Duties

Candidates in one of these classifications, where a Master’s Degree is required to meet the minimum qualifications, shall receive an educational pay differential equivalent to 2% of their monthly base pay. Those where a Doctoral Degree is a required to meet the minimum qualifications, shall receive an educational pay differential equivalent to 3% of their monthly base pay. Individuals with both a Master’s and Doctoral Degree will be given the best benefit in relation to salary shall only be eligible for only one amount.

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by creating data products for the California Biobank Program (CBP) in responding to requests that are approved to use CBP services. The position will curate and manage both study lists (blood specimens stored at the CBP facilities) and related data files to meet the requirements of research studies. Working closely with other Genetic Disease Screening Program (GDSP) staff, the position will assure the timely and accurate identification, pulling and transmission of specimens and data files to CBP requestors.

The Research Scientist II (RS II) independently perform tasks that upgrade the CBP databases through linkages to electronic data sources newly available to the Section and Branch, including vital records (live births, fetal deaths and deaths). The incumbent works independently on complex projects related to data-linkages and performance analysis of matching and linkanges.
