Overview

The Center for Laboratory Sciences (CLS) is based on the Richmond Campus. 29-acre property located in Richmond’s Marina Bay, which employs more than 1,200 people. CLS serves to protect and promote the health of all Californians through innovative and collaborative infectious disease and environmental testing, including provision of investigation and surveillance activities which form the basis of disease response and prevention. CLS works to bring together emerging scientific capabilities in testing, analytics, and communications reflecting a new level of coordination, support, and leadership for the public health laboratory system at the state, local and national level. In addition, CLS relies on a continuous improvement infrastructure as a core value in developing solutions that emphasize a culture of quality and performance through performance management success. Laboratory Field Services (LFS) safeguards the health of the people in our state by performing licensure, inspection, proficiency testing, and oversight of clinical and public health labs, tissue banks, biologics facilities, and blood banks.

Please be aware this is a hybrid position.  It requires a minimum of four (4) days a week in the office after the in-person training is complete.

New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or alternate range, as applicable.

The Research Data Specialist II (RDSII) independently performs the more complex data analysis to obtain lab data and ensure it is reported accurately. The RDSII provides professional support to blood bank and biologics and tissue bank licensing and inspection; reviews and monitors data submitted with biologics and tissue bank new and renewal applications to assure compliance with California biologics and tissue bank licensure requirements as specified in the California Health and Safety Code.
