Overview
The Healing, Equity, Anti-Racism, Trauma Responsive Transformation (HEART) Section leads the department’s efforts to healing and anti-racism organization. The HEART Section is focused on advancing equity in CDPH’s policies, programs, and practices as well as supporting California State Government at large to advance equity. The HEART Section Manager also serves a key advisor and thought partner to the CDPH’s Chief Health Equity Officer, CDPH Director, California’s Health and Human Services (CalHHS) Chief Equity Officer, and other key equity leaders within State Government. The primary responsibilities of the HEART Section Manager are to:
Lead the implementation of CDPH racial and health equity action plan (known as the HEART A3).
Manage the HEART Team (a total of 6 staff) and support the CDPH Center/Office Equity Liaison staff.
Serve as an expert equity advisor to CDPH and CalHHS leadership.

In addition to evaluating each candidate’s relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Knowledge and experience integrating equity into policies, programs, and practices
Experience managing large organizational change management efforts.
Work experience in coaching and developing staff.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of staff, external customers, and stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills, ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines with challenging time constraints.
Familiarity with trauma-informed and healing-centered practices and engagement
Ability to analyze complex program implementation problems and develop effective courses of action to solve them
Ability to communicate effectively with many different audiences including governmental leadership and community residents
Ability to develop and implement a strategic vision for improving systems and processes
