In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
This is a 12 month Limited-Term Full-Time position that may be extended or become Permanent.
This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by promoting health and wellness.
Under the general direction of the Section Chief of the Research, Evaluation and Special Projects Section within the Nutrition and Physical Activity Branch, this position supports the California Department of Public Health’s mission and strategic plan by providing leadership, direction, and technical consultation to the California Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Mental Well-being (Fitness Council) promoting health and wellness. The HPS I provides procurement support and assists the Fitness Council Coordinator in day-to-day operations of the Fitness Council. The HPS I ensures that Fitness Council’s public awareness activities adhere to Departmental policies and receive the proper approvals prior to implementation. The HPS I assists in coordinating and facilitating trainings, meetings, conferences, and activities with council members, the First Partner’s Office, governmental staff, other state agencies, and associations.
This position offers a hybrid work environment including both remote and office centered work.
