Overview

The Communications Department at The Scientific Consulting Group, Inc. is seeking a senior level health communications professional to provide communications support to both private and government clients within the environmental and health & biomedical fields.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to tasks as outlined below:

  • Provide professional consulting services to government and private clients.
  • Manage and design public health outreach programs and marketing initiatives.
  • Develop targeted messaging and strategic plans for multiple media outlets (print publications, social media, web, video, and audio presentations).
  • Support the implementation of clients’ communications programs, campaigns, and outreach efforts.
  • Facilitate both internal and external meetings.
  • Conduct extensive market research and evaluations using innovative technologies.
  • Develop key messaging for multiple media outlets (print publications, web, video, and audio).
  • Possess or develop content expertise in specific health and science-related fields.
  • Develop recommendations based on web and social media analytics.
  • Develop, implement, review, and update brand guidelines for clients.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public health, journalism, or related field and 10+ years of related experience, or master’s degree in communications, public health, journalism, or related field and 6+ years of related experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Experience in public health outreach programs, strategic planning, social and digital media, and constructing messaging for multiple media outlets.
  • Experience in consulting, specifically with health, environmental, and/or other science-based agencies.
  • Experience with Drupal is a plus.
  • Enthusiastic mentor with experience with plain language writing or the ability to translate complex language into concepts and visuals for a more general audience.
  • Experience managing competing priorities and adapting to changes in priorities and workload.
  • Ability to perform administrative activities efficiently and effectively (i.e., progress reports, proposals, budgets).
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with multiple clients.
  • A willingness to learn from communications professionals of all ages and experience levels.

This opportunity is based in Gaithersburg, Maryland with a hybrid work arrangement that offers the ability to work from home two days per week. Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter.
