Introduction

The State of Connecticut Department of Agriculture (DoAg), Bureau of Agricultural Development and Resource Conservation, is accepting applications for the position of Environmental Analyst 2.

The Bureau of Agricultural Development and Resource Conservation’s mission is to promote production, consumption, and usage of CT Grown farm products and to preserve and improve CT farmland and farmland soils through programs and services which enable CT agribusinesses to thrive with a vision to cultivate and support a sustainable, equitable food system that increases market access for farmers and food sovereignty for the benefit of all.

THE ROLE
This position is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks to develop, evaluate, and provide continuity for the programs that positively impact Connecticut farmers, farming practices, agrivoltaics, and the environment through climate smart agricultural practices.
Additionally, discover the opportunity to:
Develop program guidance for various funding opportunities for CT farmers
Conduct on-farm site visits associated with program participation
Conduct final narrative and financial report reviews
Represent DoAg at related committees and working groups such as the Invasive Plants Council and the Drought Working Group
Communicate with state and federal program partners
Be the Department’s primary point of contact responsible for implementing CGS § 16-50k(a), the siting of solar panels on state farmland
Perform related duties as required
