The School of Public Health (SPH) at the University of Memphis (UofM) is seeking a dedicated professional to serve as the Director of Academic and Student Affairs. The Director will oversee the school’s accreditation and compliance activities and student success and support the work of the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs. This is a full-time, 12-month position with an anticipated start date of Fall 2025/Spring 2026. Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs to monitor and fulfil accreditation requirements for the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) and Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).
  • Oversee the implementation of institutional surveys for CEPH and ASPPH reporting and programmatic effectiveness.
  • Track strategic framework outcomes and create centralized data repository for tracking SPH outcomes across its multiple dimensions.
  • Coordinate academic offerings to improve student retention and graduation outcomes and enhance cross-pollination and interprofessional learning
  • Utilize analytics and evidence-based practices to develop and execute quality improvement activities for learner success, teaching, engagement, and academic quality.
  • Record curricular and programmatic changes and manage approval processes within the school.
  • Assist with updating student handbooks and other academic support materials.
  • Manage student experiences, outreach, service-learning programs and relevant initiatives to enhance student outcomes
  • Develop a student-centric platform and enhance student access to resources and services
  • Provide leadership to student organizations and resources for their success
  • Monitor and manage academic scholarships and graduate assistantships

Position Qualifications: Candidates for this position must hold a graduate degree in public health or a related field. Doctoral degree is preferred. Candidates should have: (1) experience with academic accreditation, monitoring, and compliance; (2) excellent organizational skills; (3) a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the program; (4) good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders; (5) strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire faculty, staff, and students; and (6) capacity to collaborate with the SPH Dean and the leadership team.
