Overview

Are you passionate about public health or looking to make a meaningful impact in BIPOC and under-resourced communities? We have an incredible opportunity for you to join our dynamic team as a Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator at our breast cancer nonprofit organization, Touch4Life™. Our mission is to increase the breast health IQ of BIPOC and under-resourced communities to eliminate disparities in outcomes and ensure parity of biomarker and genetic testing.

The volunteer coordinator responsibilities include recruiting and training new volunteers, keeping a database of volunteer information and skills, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills and schedules, keeping volunteers informed and conveying the organization’s mission to volunteers. The coordinator will lead a volunteer-run nutrition program for breast cancer patients.

In this role, you will:

  • Inspire and lead a dedicated team of volunteers
  • Develop innovative strategies to engage the community
  • Coordinate impactful events and campaigns to raise awareness and support for breast cancer patients and survivors
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, community organizations, patients, and other nonprofits to expand our reach and impact

Responsibilities-

  • Recruiting, training, and supervising new volunteers.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date volunteer database that includes contact information, availability and skills.
  • Using marketing tools such as Constant Contact, TeamUp,  e-mails, and volunteer databases.
  • Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities.
  • Matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, and ensuring they understand their responsibilities..
  • Organizing and leading on-the-job training.
  • Keeping schedules and records of volunteers’ work.
  • Supporting a volunteer-run food distribution program for food distribution to breast cancer patients
  • Coordinating community organizations, volunteers and patients to ensure that patients enrolled in food distribution program receive food distribution as scheduled.

Qualifications-

  • A background in public health, community outreach, or volunteer management
  • Experience in volunteering and coordinating others.  (e.g., Previous experience as camp counselors or faith-community involvement
  • A deep interest and commitment to making a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer
  • Availability to work part-time consistently (up to 25 hours/week) with flexibility for occasional evening and weekend events
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    Excellent organization and team-building skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree
