Overview
The Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health is a dynamic workplace with a strong commitment to improving population health for over 100 years. We are seeking candidates for up to three positions in the Graduate Public Health Program who will contribute to the development and growth of the new Center for Climate Change and Health Equity (CCCHE). These are calendar year (12-month) positions, fully funded by New York State, that are tenure eligible. Those hired for these positions will also make contributions to the scholarship and service missions of the School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP) and assist in the development and delivery of curriculum on climate change and population health.
We are seeking candidates with expertise in climate change and health research using environmental epidemiology, environmental risk/exposure assessment, climate modeling, and/or environmental justice/health disparity approaches.
Candidates at the Full/Associate Professor HS (tenure eligible) level will join the CCCHE senior leadership team and work closely with the center director, affiliated faculty and staff, and community partners to write funding proposals. This will include large Center and Community Development grants aiming to identify solutions for critical climate and health challenges to communities.
Candidates applying at the Full/Associate Professor HS (tenure eligible) level will help lead the new Center for Climate Change and Health Equity (CCCHE) and grow its research productivity and impact on communities. These faculty members will:
- Contribute to strategic planning and implementation of activities that fulfill the CCCHE mission.
- Grow research productivity of the CCCHE by obtaining grant funding and producing peer-reviewed publications and public facing communication materials. Candidates must have demonstrated success with obtaining funding in areas related to climate change and health using environmental epidemiology, environmental exposure/risk assessment, climate modeling, and/or environmental justice/health disparity approaches. Candidates with prior experience in a leadership role writing successful large Center grant proposal(s) will be particularly competitive.
- Collaborate with a variety of local and global community partners, policy makers, and affiliated faculty and staff to plan and implement activities that fulfill the CCCHE mission.
- Provide mentorship that contributes to the development of junior faculty and trainees affiliated with the Center.
- Conduct service commensurate with level of expertise.
- Teach 1 course (3-4 credit hours) per semester.

Candidates at the Full/Associate Professor HS (tenure eligible) level should have demonstrated leadership experience and a history of success in obtaining funding related to the climate change and health using environmental epidemiology, environmental risk/exposure assessment, climate modeling, and/or environmental justice/health disparity approaches.
Minimum Qualifications
- A doctoral or professional degree (PhD, MD, DDS, PharmD, DVM, etc.) in a public health discipline or a related field.
- Substantial evidence of research/scholarship, teaching and service in the area of climate change and health, with expertise in environmental epidemiology, environmental risk/exposure assessment, climate modeling, and/or environmental justice/health disparities.
- A history of externally funded research in climate change and health or related areas.
- Experience mentoring junior faculty, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and/or interns.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the minimum qualifications, preferred qualifications for the Full/Associate Professor HS (tenure eligible) level include:
- Significant leadership role in writing successful, externally-funded center grant application(s)
- Significant leadership role in an externally-funded center
- Experience mentoring mid-career or junior faculty
- Experience in public engagement in policy, health care, or community settings
- A record of excellence in research/scholarship, teaching and service
