Overview
Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-track Professor/ Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor (several posts) in the Division of Behavioural Sciences, School of Public Health (Ref.: 536297), to commence as soon as possible on a three-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal, and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract, subject to satisfactory performance. Exceptionally outstanding candidates may be considered for appointment on tenure terms.
Applicants should possess (i) a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in health or clinical psychology, or a related discipline, with particular relevance to health risk perception, cognition, and health-related behaviour change; (ii) prior research experience in addressing the psychological, social, and contextual challenges that hinder the adoption and maintenance of healthier lifestyles, such as risk misperception, motivational barriers, inequities, and resistance to behaviour change; (iii) a strong track record of high-quality research as indicated by publication record and external grants; (iv) evidence of international recognition with a demonstrated ability to work across discipline towards new research initiatives; and (v) a strong commitment to teaching students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The appointees are expected to strengthen and expand the School’s expertise in developing and testing theory-driven, evidence-based approaches to understanding and modifying health-risk behaviours, with a particular focus on translating research into strategies that support healthier decision-making at individual, community, and population levels. They are expected to conduct independent and collaborative scholarly research, publish research articles in high-impact journals, and attract competitive grants to maintain active research programmes; take part in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and supervise research postgraduate students; and perform administrative duties. The appointment rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
