Overview
The UNC Charlotte Department of Health Management and Policy invites applicants for two
(4735 and 4736) nine-month tenure track Assistant Professor positions with a proposed start
date of 7/15/2026.
Candidates must have a doctoral degree in health administration, health care management,
health policy, or a related field by August 2026. Candidates are expected to present evidence of
promise for contributing to the Department’s research portfolio, obtaining external research
funding, and teaching. The extent to which the candidate can contribute to the department’s
vision and mission will be considered.
Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience
Applicants whose research agendas focus on healthcare policy analysis, the development,
application, or evaluation of health informatics systems, organizational theory in healthcare
management and administration, the structural and/or behavioral dynamics of health
organizations, or healthcare operations and service delivery are strongly encouraged to apply.
Preferred candidates will have an MHA, or equivalent, and teaching experience related to
health administration/health policy, including but not limited to healthcare management,
human resources, information systems, quality improvement, health law and policy,
statistics/decision analysis, and operations management and/or can demonstrate effective
teaching of students from socially and historically marginalized populations.
About University of North Carolina at Charlotte - Department of Health Management and Policy
The Department of Health Management and Policy specializes in healthcare policy, healthcare
management, healthcare administration, health organization behavior design, health systems
management, operations management, health economics and finance/accounting and has
extensive ties with local and regional health departments, health care systems, and other
community partners. We offer a BS in Health Systems Management, a CAHME-accredited MHA
program, and a CEPH-accredited MPH concentration in Health Policy. We collaborate with the
School of Data Science in the delivery of an MS in Health Informatics and Analytics. The
Department is a member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration
(AUPHA).
The Department is housed in the College of Health and Human Services, which also includes the
Department of Epidemiology and Community Health, the Department of Applied Physiology,
Health and Clinical Sciences; the School of Nursing; and the School of Social Work.
On July 1, 2026, the Department of Health Management and Policy will merge with the
Department of Epidemiology and Community Health to become the Department of Public
Health and Health Administration (PHHA). PHHA is committed to advancing health by fostering
innovative teaching and learning, generating evidence-based research, and engaging
communities in meaningful ways. PHHA’s mission is to prepare students and scholars to lead
impactful public health initiatives, expand access to quality care, and contribute to healthier
outcomes for populations. The new department will consist of 30 full-time faculty serving
approximately 1,000 undergraduate and 200 graduate students.
