The Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences (BCHS) in the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health (http://www.bchs.pitt.edu/) invites applications for a full-time Tenured or Tenure Stream Associate or Full Professor position. BCHS works to improve and promote health and equity by engaging individuals, communities, and systems through our research, teaching, and practice. The Department has a strong commitment to practice-oriented research, evidence-based interventions, dissemination of findings, and social justice. Our faculty seeks to improve health disparities by centering the community and preparing leaders in the public health workforce. We are committed to creating a culture of equity and inclusion that values, respects, and amplifies the voices of the staff, students, faculty, and communities we serve.

The successful applicant must be able to explore and advance public health domestically and/or internationally using a health equity lens and should have expertise in one or more of the following: social epidemiology, implementation science, and mixed methodology. Research foci of interest to the department include but are not limited to those seeking to improve health outcomes for systematically marginalized populations, particularly those who experience racial and ethnic disparities, people who use illicit substances, and/or sexual and gender minorities. With appropriate experience, there exist opportunities for leadership roles within our Center for LGBT Health Research.

Applicants should hold a doctorate in public health or a related social science discipline and have an interest in building partnerships across disciplines within the University. Applicants should also have a demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary education and research. A demonstrated history of meaningful mentorship of students and junior faculty is essential. Evidence of scholarly productivity is required, including teaching, publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals, and a history of successful funding acquisition, demonstrating evidence of independent investigator status. Salary and rank are commensurate with background/ experience.
