The UTHealth School of Public Health invites applicants to fill an assistant professor tenure-track faculty position at the Houston campus in the department of Management, Policy, and Community Health. Qualifications include: (1) a doctorate with a focus in social/behavioral science or related disciplines (including public health, medicine, psychology, psychiatry, health services, sociology, political science, anthropology, social work, organizational science, etc.); (2) evidence of collaborative research supporting advances in community health practice; 3) track record of established independent research funding; (4) commitment to excellence in teaching and advising graduate students; and (5) excellence in written and oral communication skills. Multi-disciplinary training, with backgrounds that include computer sciences, biostatistics, engineering, and other equivalent disciplines/fields will also be considered.

Responsibilities will include research, teaching, and community service. The applicant will develop and implement research related to community health initiatives and work collaboratively with UTHealth School of Public Health colleagues. The applicant must demonstrate practical/applied expertise in analytic methods appropriate to enhancing research investigating psychosocial, behavioral, medical, and/or environmental factors associated with health outcomes as well as empirical research involving the design, implementation, and evaluation of community health interventions.

We encourage applicants with a broad array of skills and experience related to Community Health Practice, Social/Behavioral Science, Health Promotion, Health Management, Health Services Research, Policy and other related disciplines to apply. We are interested in applicants with experience and expertise in community health practice. Research and practice should be community driven and may include community-based participatory research, participatory action research, etc. The ideal candidate will conduct research related to health equity with an area of interest that compliments the work of current faculty (e.g., social or economic determinants of health; infectious diseases, aging, healthcare access for underserved and marginalized populations).

Applicants must demonstrate experience as an independent researcher with funded research studies, presentations at national and international conferences, and a record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications. Successful candidates will provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and post-doctoral students. Candidates will participate in classroom instruction and should be prepared to teach graduate level classes. Teaching commitment will be agreed upon with Department Chairs and the Curriculum Coordinator in the Department. We aim to recruit outstanding research scholars, and the compensation package will be competitive.
