Overview

The University of Virginia Department of Public Health Sciences in the School of Medicine is seeking highly qualified applicants for a one-year Postdoctoral Research Associate position, with the possibility of extension to three years based on an annual basis dependent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. This position is part of the Center for Tobacco Prevention and Control Research, which conducts research to reduce tobacco-related disparities through the development and dissemination of sustainable community-based tobacco prevention and cessation interventions.

 

The candidate will be asked to support projects related to the development and evaluation of remotely delivered tobacco prevention and control interventions, in particular interventions using mobile technology using a precision health framework. This work will be conducted in Virginia. Mentorship will be provided by Drs. Kara Wiseman and Melissa Little who are collaborators on this work. This position is funded by NIH and internal funding, with a focus on improving outcomes and reducing disparities for communities and populations, specifically reducing cancer risk behaviors. Candidates will receive mentorship and training in decision support to implement tobacco control interventions, and grant writing.
