#TeamWake Health and Human Services is in search of a community-focused nurse with a passion for disease prevention to join our team. We are in search of a detail-oriented, self-motivated nurse with excellent organization and planning skills to serve as our next Immunization Nurse.

This position will use research and evidence-based practice to create and update standing orders for community vaccinations for other nursing staff to follow, be the face and voice of immunization standards and practice for Wake County’s community with focus on the school vaccination schedules and clinic services to the media and for community outreach initiatives. As a true immunization nurse leader, the ideal candidate will organize, coordinate, and serve as a community partner for emergency and routine immunization education initiatives, providing education and guidance to Wake County Health and Human Services staff on vaccine schedules and administration standards.  This position will work in tandem with the immunization coordination team.

As an Immunization Nurse working with the Immunization Outreach Coordinator Team, some duties include:

  • Manage data collection, documentation, and reporting of immunization compliance outcomes to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare educational materials for staff to improve immunization outcomes and compliance.
  • Collaborate with school staff to provide NCIR access to select WCPSS school staff.
  • Provide immunization services to adults and children in a clinical and community setting.
  • Provide oversight and perform auditing duties of internal vaccine administration for compliance.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing
  • No specific experience required
  • RN – Registered Nurse – North Carolina Board of Nursing or Compact state
  • BPT – Bloodborne Pathogens Training
  • CPR – Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • AED – Automated External Defibrillator
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
