Are you a compassionate and skilled nurse looking to make a meaningful impact in public health? We’re seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in the HIV/Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinic.

In this vital role, you’ll be at the forefront of patient care—providing clinical services, identifying and treating sexually transmitted infections, and supporting individuals living with HIV. You’ll work in a collaborative, mission-driven environment where your expertise helps improve lives and promote community wellness.

The RN will be responsible for the following:

  • Obtaining patient’s complete sexual history
  • Complete a physical examination to detect sexually transmitted diseases by ordering appropriate laboratory tests, evaluating finding, treat according to approved medical directives or refers clients to appropriate clinical resources as necessary
  • Provides counseling components to include risk reduction education for HIV, testing for HIV and counseling and education regarding STD’s and unplanned pregnancy
  • Share responsibility with team members for planning, implementing, and evaluating these programs

Other duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Maintaining clinic supplies
  • Assist with CQI for clinic
  • Attend in-services within and outside WCHHS, CPR and appropriate workshops to maintain licensure
  • Trained and available to assist Wake County in the event of an emergency

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing
  • No specific experience required
  • Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse as issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted
