Radiation Health Physics 2 (RHP2)

 

Home-based  Full-time  Permanent position.

 

Join the Office of Radiation Protection and help safeguard Washington. This role involves conducting radiation safety inspections, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing technical assistance on X-ray device safety. You’ll also support environmental justice efforts through the Healthy Environments for All (HEAL) Act, working with Tribal partners and overburdened communities to promote equitable public health protections.

Key responsibilities:

Conduct radiation safety inspections of non-complex dental, medical, and industrial X-ray devices.
Track and manage Items of Non-Compliance (IONC) for overdue cases and correspond with registrants.
Assist a senior physicist in processing X-ray inspection correspondence through the Inspection by Mail Program.
Prepare for and respond to radiological and other public health emergencies.

Location and Flexibility

Enjoy the flexibility of our hybrid work environment, where you can balance working from home and collaborating in the field for inspections.  It is anticipated that you’ll be expected to perform work activities in the field within the Western Washington Region with a focus on South King to Thurston County approximately 2-3 days weekly.
