Overview

Join us in protecting and improving the health of Washington’s communities! This project position supports the Department of Health’s mission through our three cornerstone values—equity, innovation, and engagement.

As part of the Division of Environmental Public Health, you’ll work within the Office of Environmental Health & Safety (OEHS), helping reduce and prevent exposure to environmental hazards linked to wastewater, food, schools, recreation, and lodging. Our team works every day to create healthier places to live, work, and play across the state.

Reporting to the Lodging Supervisor, you will:

Conduct facility inspections and complaint investigations of temporary worker housing (TWH) and transient accommodations (TA) under WAC 246-358 and 246-360.
Serve as a subject-matter authority on inspections, compliance, enforcement, and regulatory investigations in the Northcentral region.
Travel to remote areas of Washington, primarily interacting with Spanish-speaking communities to support public health and regulatory needs.
Advance equity through the implementation of the Healthy Environments for All (HEAL) Act, supporting tribal relationships, peer-to-peer engagement, environmental justice assessments, and community-driven solutions for overburdened and vulnerable populations.
