The Opportunity:
Our technology is more than just systems and servers. It is the backbone of how we protect communities. The Office of Innovation and Technology (OIT) supports more than 300 applications and dozens of mission critical systems that power everything from disease surveillance to electronic lab reporting. When you join our Public Health Systems team, you will be at the center of this work, helping design, build, and support applications and databases that directly impact public health across the state.
This role is hands-on and mission driven. You will use tools such as .NET, SQL Server, and modern web frameworks to develop and maintain secure, reliable applications. You will work with data by writing queries, building reports, and ensuring accuracy so that hospitals, labs, local health departments have the information they need to act quickly and effectively. You will also troubleshoot problems, test solutions, and collaborate with partners inside and outside the agency to keep systems running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain applications using modern tools and programming languages to support critical public health systems.
Manage and analyze data by designing and supporting databases, writing queries, building reports, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of data used for decision-making.
Design software solutions that meet business needs, document system requirements, and create applications that integrate with multiple data sources.
Implement and deploy systems by setting up development, testing, and production environments, coordinating tasks, and ensuring smooth rollouts of new or updated applications.
Test and assure quality by building and running test plans, identifying issues, and working with others to resolve them before systems go live.
Troubleshoot and solve problems ranging from data feed errors to application performance issues, recommending and implementing solutions to keep systems running smoothly.
Document systems and processes to support knowledge sharing, future maintenance, and agency-wide best practices.
Collaborate with the team by participating in meetings, supporting projects, and assisting with emergency response activities when needed.
