Join a dedicated team at the Washington State Department of Health working to eliminate tuberculosis and protect communities across the state. As our TB Medical Consultant, you’ll serve as the state’s lead clinical expert, providing guidance to local health teams and providers on diagnosis, treatment, complex cases, and infection control while helping shape statewide standards and policy.

This role offers a rare blend of hands-on clinical leadership, mentorship, and public health influence, all focused on reducing the burden of TB and strengthening Washington’s response to infectious diseases.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary TB medical expert, delivering timely consultation on diagnosis, treatment, case management, and infection control to local health partners and clinicians statewide
Review and guide management of the most challenging cases, including drug-resistant TB, in collaboration with other Washington TB experts
Shape clinical policy by developing, updating, and advising on state TB guidelines, standards, and regulations
Mentor and direct TB nurse consultants on clinical decisions and quality assurance
Lead workgroups, deliver statewide trainings and webinars, and represent the program at key meetings and conferences
Provide surge support during public health emergencies involving infectious diseases
