This Legal Assistant position provides senior-level legal support to OILS staff attorneys and paralegals in providing disciplinary and professional legal services to the agency. This position is responsible for complex legal support for staff attorneys, case managers, and paralegals relating to the disciplinary process. This position provides legal assistance that supports critical legal services for high-priority, time sensitive cases involving patient harm. The Legal Assistant collaborates with case managers, investigators, the legal management team, staff attorneys, assistant attorneys general, compliance officers, legal assistant staff, and paralegals to effectively carry out disciplinary services.

 

Some of what you’ll do

Format disciplinary documents, draft and assemble the appropriate supporting documents, distribute disciplinary documents for signature, and process said documents for service, or for health law judge/review officer signature.
Receive, review, and assess incoming documents via email, fax, and mail.
Calendar scheduled hearing dates in Outlook for staff attorneys and paralegals.
Schedule settlement conferences; coordinate schedules with staff attorney, assistant attorneys general, opposing counsel and/or respondent, and/or board or commission members.
Facilitate meetings with staff attorneys, paralegals, case managers, investigators, and assistant attorneys general to project timelines for filing and service of summary motions.
Facilitate requests for assistant attorneys general service.
Coordinate, monitor, maintain, and update enforcement database by opening, closing, and maintaining disciplinary files and consulting with internal database users to resolve their technical problems.
