As the Suicide Prevention Unit Supervisor, you will lead efforts to address one of the most pressing public health crises—suicide prevention. By advancing the Washington State Suicide Prevention Plan, you will collaborate with diverse partners, including government agencies, community organizations, and tribal health authorities, to implement strategies that save lives. You’ll supervise a dedicated team of health services consultants and represent the Department of Health in high-visibility forums across the state.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

Program Leadership: Lead the strategic planning, budgeting, and implementation of statewide suicide prevention efforts. Oversee the work of the Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention (AASP), convening partners and developing evaluation strategies.
Team Management: Supervise a team of three full-time consultants, guiding them to successfully implement suicide prevention programs. Conduct performance reviews and ensure staff accountability.
Partner Engagement: Build and strengthen relationships with internal and external partners, acting as a public health expert in suicide prevention. Represent the Department of Health at various forums.
Data and Policy Integration: Work closely with the Injury and Violence Prevention (IVP) epidemiology team to strengthen behavioral health surveillance and integrate data into prevention policies and programs. Disseminate information through presentations, reports, and legislative briefings.
Contract and Budget Oversight: Manage contracts, funding priorities, and budgets for suicide prevention programs. Ensure all deliverables are met in a timely manner.
