Overview

Winnebago County is seeking a Regional Epidemiologist – Project Position to join our Public Health Department. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with a minimum expected duration of 18 months, from May 2026 through November 30, 2027.

Job Summary

This role conducts epidemiological surveillance and analysis across a multi-county region in Northeast Wisconsin. This position builds and maintains data infrastructure, such as data dashboards, communicates data analysis findings to respective parties, and provides training and technical assistance to local health department staff who use population health data to inform decision-making.

This position serves the local governmental and tribal public health jurisdictions within the following 17 counties in the Northeast Wisconsin region: Brown, Calumet, Door, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Marquette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Sheboygan, Waupaca, Waushara, and Winnebago Counties.

Essential Duties

  1. Develops and coordinates, sustainable surveillance and epidemiology processes to build capacity for the health departments in the northeast Wisconsin region.
  2. Supports the use and application of data in public health strategies, plans, and the evaluation of public health programs and services.
  3. Develop appropriate methodologies and templates for communicating data effectively to diverse audiences throughout the Northeast Wisconsin Region and ensure that data visualization efforts are understandable.

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in public health, Biostatistics, or Epidemiology; or similar field or a combination of closely related education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Three years of professional data work experience within a public health setting preferred.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS), and disease surveillance systems (e.g., WEDSS, WIR, ESSENCE), and other technologies that enhance data collection, visualization, and distribution are preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Google Suite applications.
