Our client, a leading nonprofit human services organization, is dedicated to empowering individuals and communities through compassionate, evidence-based, and person-centered care. We’re seeking a visionary Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Behavioral Health Services to provide strategic and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of outpatient, community-based, and residential programs.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple behavioral health service lines, including outpatient, community-based, and residential programs.

· Lead multidisciplinary teams to achieve clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

· Oversee program quality, performance, and fiscal management, ensuring sustainability and growth.

· Advance Whole Person Care and integrated behavioral health models in collaboration with hospitals, primary care, and managed care organizations.

· Partner with internal and external stakeholders—including payers, community agencies, and state entities—to enhance access, outcomes, and system coordination.

· Work effectively across business units and leadership levels—up, down, and sideways—to align strategy, integrate systems, and drive organizational performance.

· Adapt to evolving business and funding models, including restructuring licenses, reimbursement frameworks, and service lines to support revenue cycle optimization and compliance.

· Utilize data-driven decision-making to evaluate outcomes, productivity, and financial performance.

· Lead and mentor program directors and clinical managers to foster innovation, accountability, and professional development.

· Collaborate with executive leadership to expand service lines, strengthen value-based partnerships, and position the organization as a leader in behavioral health integration and housing support.

Qualifications

· Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration (MBA), Public Administration (MPA), or related field required; Doctorate preferred. A combination of behavioral health expertise and advanced business or systems management training is highly valued.

· Current New Jersey clinical licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

· Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in behavioral health, human services, or healthcare administration, including at least 5 years in senior management.

· Demonstrated success in strategic planning, program development, and fiscal management across complex service delivery systems.

· Proven ability to work effectively across business units, departments, and leadership levels—up, down, and sideways—to align strategy, integrate operations, and drive organizational performance.

· Experience adapting to evolving business and funding models, including restructuring licenses or reimbursement frameworks to support sustainability and revenue cycle optimization.

· Strong track record in integrated care, managed care partnerships, and cross-sector collaboration, including familiarity with Medicaid 1115 waivers and HUD-funded or supportive housing initiatives.

· Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor emerging leaders, and build inclusive, trauma-informed workplace cultures.

· Skilled in data-driven decision-making, outcome measurement, and continuous quality improvement.

· Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with a commitment to equity, access, and innovation in behavioral health care.
