Entry Level Training Plan
This is a permanent position with a training duration of 12 months. Compensation will align with the training level and will increase to journey level upon completion of the training program. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience in application testing, data management, and system administration, while working alongside senior staff. You’ll develop problem-solving, research, and communication skills, and gain a deep understanding of the software development life cycle. This opportunity moves beyond entry-level tasks, preparing you for forward-thinking roles in application development and database management, setting a solid foundation for your tech career.
What You Will Do at the Journey Level:
In this role, you’ll be a key player in supporting the State of Washington’s COVID-19 recovery efforts by managing and developing the Department of Health’s laboratory IT systems. You will work at the intersection of critical public health functions, helping ensure that the data flowing between laboratory equipment and IT applications is accurate and secure. Your work will have an impact across local health jurisdictions, hospitals, laboratories, clinics, and even federal agencies like the CDC. This position is vital in keeping essential systems running smoothly and supporting enterprise-wide application solutions.
You’ll also use your expertise in IT disciplines like application development, system administration, and data management to plan, design, and implement solutions that meet the agency’s needs. With the opportunity to make independent decisions and balance workloads, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining continuity of operations, supporting multiple critical business functions.
