Overview
This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by providing administrative and operational support to the Office of Compliance (OOC), which is comprised of the Audit and Accountability Branch and the Equal Opportunity and Operations Branch.
The incumbent works under the general direction of the Support and Accountability Unit (SAU) Staff Supervisor I and performs a variety of administrative and operational duties for OOC. The Office Technician (OT) prepares and processes correspondence, reports, and technical documents, data entry, places orders for equipment and supplies, processes invoices, proofreads and formats documents, schedules and proctors recruitment interviews, and addresses facility needs. The OT also processes incoming and outgoing mail/packages, and organizes, supports, and maintains OOC’s administrative files, technical reports, supplies/inventory, and emergency planning and protocol processes, along with being the liaison and contact for the office for in-office needs, acting as OOC’s Attendance Coordinator, answering the phone and office admin and operations email inbox providing information to the public, and building and maintaining relationships and collaboration with team members within the office and across the department.
The position requires the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications. You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The CDPH Office of Compliance (OOC) leads department-wide efforts to ensure accountability, integrity, and the department’s compliance with state and federal requirements. The OOC administers the department’s internal audit program, facilitates external audit activities, conducts whistleblower investigations, and subrecipient audits of various federal grant funds. The OOC also manages the department’s Equal Employment Opportunity Program and Workplace Violence Prevention Program, and conducts investigations related to discrimination, harassment, workplace violence, retaliation and denials of reasonable accommodations. The office also supports enterprise risk and compliance management activities for the department. The Support and Accountability Unit (SAU) within the OOC provides centralized administrative and operational support to ensure effective coordination and execution of activities across the OOC.

Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate’s relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Experience providing clerical or administrative support, including attendance, timekeeping, personnel-related forms, or similar office processes.
Experience organizing, maintaining, tracking, and filing records in accordance with established procedures.
Experience processing or tracking travel claims, invoices, purchase orders, service orders, or other office transactions.
Experience reviewing, proofreading, and formatting correspondence and documents for accuracy and consistency.
Experience handling sensitive or confidential information appropriately.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments, deadlines, and follow-up activities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
