Job Description and Duties
The Health Program Specialist (HPS) I works performing duties in the full journey level capacity relating to the planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating strategic planning components of the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Division. The HPS I serves in a key role in advising and assisting the Health Program Manager I on communication plans and health education outreach that support the Division’s mission and goals with a focus on accessibility to various literacy levels and non-English speaking audiences. The HPS I also serves as a liaison for partner communication and interagency efforts to coordinate program activities across departments. This position requires the incumbent to function independently, communicate effectively, provide effective consultation/technical assistance and maintain/develop skills related to MCAH.

 

The incumbent works under the direction of the Health Program Manager (HPM) I, Outreach and Communication Unit Chief.

The attached duty statement indicates whether this position is eligible for telework. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200, and may be required to report to a CDPH office, when needed. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment.
