Job Description and Duties
This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by serving as the Medi-Cal Waiver Program (MCWP) Nurse within the HIV Care Branch. The Nurse Evaluator II (NE II) works both independently and as a team member and communicates effectively both verbally and in writing, when interacting with the public, other employees, management, and MCWP agencies. The NE II trains OA staff and MCWP agency personnel, evaluates and certifies Nursing Facility Level of Care for MCWP participants through review of clinical assessments and reassessments, conducts on-site program compliance reviews including comprehensive chart reviews to monitor participant centered service plans and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of case management (CM) activities and MCWP services. The NE II conducts presentations including new project director orientations and responds to public inquiries received by the branch and state fair hearings (SFH). This position assists program policy specialists and management on the development of federal reports and requests, assists in evaluation of procedures, enforcement of regulations, and assists on special projects as needed. The NE II maintains a knowledge base on Medi-Cal, MCWP, HIV disease, CM, health care systems, and the continuum of home and community-based care. This position requires proficiency with Microsoft 365 and other technology platforms, including, but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

Twenty percent travel required.

All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200, and may be required to report to a CDPH office, when needed. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
