Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) is a trade association located in New York City representing more than 200 hospitals, health systems, and continuing care facilities in New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Health Equity Policy Analysis, the Senior Project Associate for Health Equity and Diversity will conduct research on hospital health equity and diversity best practice initiatives and support GNYHA programs that assist hospitals with implementation. The position is within GNYHA’s Center on Community Health Equity Policy and Services and supports GNYHA member hospitals and Center staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on best practice approaches to addressing health equity in hospital settings, with a focus on serving LGBTQ+, patients with disabilities, and limited English proficient patients, and increasing diversity in health care management.
  • Support the planning and implementation of GNYHA health equity initiatives that assist member hospitals to meet equity and diversity goals, including internships and mentorship programs.
  • Coordinate GNYHA diversity and health equity-related meetings with hospital staff, including agenda planning and logistics.
  • Attend and report back on various diversity and health equity meetings, including external meetings hosted by government agencies and advocacy groups.
  • Assist in preparing documents and articles for internal and external publication.
  • Periodically visit member hospitals for meetings as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in health policy, public administration, public health, social work, or other related subjects.
    Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, with attention to detail.
  • Strong research skills, including the ability to collect and analyze qualitative information from various sources.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, with experience documenting and formatting content across Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and creating tables and sorting/filtering data in Excel.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a health and social service environment.
  • The ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in health policy, public administration, public health, social work, or other related subjects.
  • At least one year of prior work experience in a health care setting.

Salary Range: $60,000 – $67,500

The salary range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement. When determining exact compensation, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education, skills, budget, and internal equity).

Work Schedule: A hybrid model with the expectation to work physically in our office Tuesdays and Wednesdays as mandatory in-office days with a third in-office day at your discretion, in coordination with your supervisor and in accordance with the business needs of your department. This schedule may be subject to change in GNYHA’s sole discretion. This is a full-time position.
