Overview

The Quantitative Research Associate I has an integral role in survey administration, data collection, data analysis, and communication plans. The Research Associate I collaborates with senior staff in developing and refining data procedures and data analytic approaches to maintain methodological rigor while maximizing responsiveness to client information needs. The Research Associate I supports data collection and data management efforts, applies quantitative analysis skills, and supports report writing and presentation to multiple projects. The Research Associate I manages multiple assignments and executes work independently, strives for accuracy and completeness, thinks critically, communicates clearly, and uses data analytic skills to explore new approaches to solve unexpected problems.

***This is a hybrid (3 days in the office) role from our San Mateo, CA or North Bethesda, MD office.*** 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Research and Evaluation/Data Science/Data Analytics Activities

Conduct intermediate to complex analyses of survey data independently; apply sufficient knowledge of statistical procedures and statistical programming to work with minimal supervision on these analyses
Contribute to data interpretation and publications which may require static and dynamic data visualizations and infographics
Lead the preparation of client-ready written materials (e.g., issue briefs, case studies, and other materials to convey survey findings, best practices, and recommendations) designed to communicate information clearly in a manner tailored to the intended audiences
Write memoranda, e-mail correspondence, project documents, reports or sections of reports, synthesize literature reviews, and other written documents, in collaboration with other staff or alone
Contribute to preparation and production of reports and presentations to include graphics, tables, arrangements for printing, etc.
Collaborate with colleagues in carrying out survey administration
Develop, review and monitor data collection plans
Contribute to the development of surveys
Assist in developing interviewer training materials and training protocols
Enter, clean, process, manipulate and analyze quantitative data as part of the evaluation team
Project Coordination

With oversight from Project Director:

Assist with preparation of monthly reports, agendas, and summary project meeting notes
Assist with maintaining project work plans and timelines
Maintain project records and documentation
Business Development Support

Contribute to the development of proposals as assigned and with oversight from Senior staff
Logistical and Administrative tasks

Manage projects or lead key tasks, as directed
Supervise Research Assistant, as assigned
Prepare reports, to include writing, proofreading, creating graphics or tables, making arrangement for printing, etc.
Develop, with other team members, materials for presentation at conferences, seminars, and workshops
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Master’s Degree and 3 years of focus experience post master’s degree in data science/data analytics, quantitative survey research in Economics, Sociology, Statistics, Social Sciences, Community Psychology, Public Health, or related field.
Bachelor’s Degree and 6 years of focus experience post bachelor’s degree in data science/data analytics, quantitative survey research in Economics, Sociology, Statistics, Social Sciences, Community Psychology, Public Health, or related field.
Software Proficiency: Experience conducting analysis in SAS, Stata, or R. Experience working in Microsoft Power BI/Tableau. Proficiency in MS Excel and Word (especially graph and table proficiency), Power Point, Alchemer, or other online survey software. Knowledge of research and evaluation design, statistical analysis techniques and familiarity with survey methods.

Language: English fluency (oral and written)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk or computer workstation.
Regularly uses a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
Normal or corrected vision to read documents, view computer screens, and perform tasks that require visual accuracy.
Ability to hear and understand spoken information in person and over the phone.
Minimal lifting and carrying may be required, typically light office supplies or documents.
Ability to move within the office environment to access equipment, files, and interact with colleagues.
Ability to handle occasional stress related to deadlines, workloads, or challenging tasks.
