Overview

The Environmental Health, Climate, and Sustainability Program at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) School of Public Health invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position to support research on climate change, environmental health, and geospatial data science. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to a multi-year project focused on mapping urban heat exposure and identifying climate-driven health disparities in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The position will involve geospatial data analysis, land cover mapping using remote sensing data, environmental data integration, and urban climate modeling to develop fine-resolution urban heat maps of ambient temperature based on data collected from both mobile and stationary monitoring systems. The Fellow will work closely with the Principal Investigator and project collaborators to integrate field temperature observations with land use and land cover data derived from high-resolution drone imagery, in order to analyze spatial patterns of urban heat.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing spatial datasets, conducting GIS and remote sensing analyses, developing heat distribution maps, and supporting the creation of decision-support tools and policy-relevant outputs for climate-resilient urban planning.
