Overview

The Texas Department of State Health Services is looking for a licensed physician to fill the Regional Medical Director (RMD) role in El Paso, Texas. This position serves as the lead physician and regional administrator of public health services in Public Health Region 9/10 which consists of across 36 counties in west Texas. Travel up to 25% of the time may be required to complete essential job functions, however this position is eligible for telework (remote work), the schedule will be discussed upon hire. Responsibilities:

  • coordinating public health activities with county public health departments and leading activities in counties without a local health department;
  • providing public health and medical consultations;
  • supervises program managers in the region.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current physician license issued by the Texas Medical Board (or ability to in a timely fashion)
  • Graduate degree from a US accredited medical college.
  • Experience in organizational management and leadership (hiring, performance management, counseling).
  • Experience working in public health or with public health related activities.

Salary Range: $14,321.66 – $24,221.50 (per month)

  • employer contributions to your state of Texas retirement account equal to 10% of your base salary.
