This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by providing leadership, coordination, and highly skilled technical program consultation to programs and services in the Center for Family Health (CFH) and works collaboratively with other programs across the Department as well as external partners focused on advancing racial and health equity.

 

The Health Program Specialist (HPS) II works closely with the CFH staff and senior leadership team to develop strategies to embed principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging throughout the CFH workforce; project planning and implementation of health equity goals and objectives; developing and informing best practices for health equity; and ensuring that administrative and programmatic policies advance health equity. The HPS II will be responsible for attending meetings with local agencies and partners of the CFH, state and federal officials, community-based organizations, and participate in advisory groups/committees as appropriate.

 

The incumbent works under the general direction of the Deputy Director, Center for Family Health.

The attached duty statement indicates whether this position is eligible for telework. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200, and may be required to report to a CDPH office, when needed. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
